What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical, treatment used as an alternative to liposuction, plastic surgery and other more invasive cosmetic procedures that claim to reduce fat and cellulite.
Mesotherapy is the technique of applying an all-natural mixture of vitamins, amino acids and medicines into the mesoderm (the middle skin layer where fat is stored) through a short series of injections. Mesotherapy is applied in sessions with results often seen within the first few sessions. The number of sessions required depends on the desired amount of fat reduction – typically 4 to 8 sessions. Results can vary from person to person.
Areas commonly treated with Mesotherapy are the belly, thighs, love handles, double chin, bags under the eyes and anywhere cellulite and excess fat exists. Mesotherapy can be very effective in areas difficult to improve despite dedicated diet and exercise. If you haven’t experienced it first hand you’re sure to have heard stories like, “No matter how many sit-ups I do I can’t seem to get rid of my tummy,” or, “I’ve cut out carbs for months now and still haven’t lost my love handles.” Mesotherapy may be the perfect solution to these common complaints.
Mesotherapy was pioneered in 1952 by Dr. Michel Pistor of France and is currently practiced by more than 15,000 specially trained physicians in France, Europe, South America, and a growing number in the United States.
Is Mesotherapy safe?
Mesotherapy is a completely safe treatment for fat reduction. With the exception of minor amounts of swelling at the site of the injections, there are no harmful side-effects reported by physicians who have been using the technology for 10-20 years.
How does Mesotherapy compare to surgical techniques like liposuction?
Mesotherapy does not require anesthesia, hospital admittance, or recovery time. Because it’s not surgery, there is none of the extra costs or risks. A session only takes about 15-30 minutes and you can usually return to your busy schedule with no downtime.
Where does the fat go?
Mesotherapy breaks down fat in a similar way to diet and exercise. Fat molecules are essentially composed of fatty acids, glycerol, and water which are re-absorbed and excreted by the body.
How long do the benefits of Mesotherapy last?
The benefits last as long as the patient eats right and exercises. Some cellulite areas may need to be touched up annually as the patient desires.
How much does Mesotherapy cost?
The cost is typically determined by the number of sessions required with discounts being applied when multiple areas are treated. Please call for details (616) 656-3700.
